Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Steve Feldman
DVM
Dr. Feldman is a Denver native who had always dreamed of being a cowboy and working cattle and horses. After high school, he spent 3 years milking cows in Israel before returning to Colorado. Dr. Feldman received his Masters’s in Animal Nutrition from CSU in 1983 and then graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After vet school, Dr. Feldman spent a year in Beersheva, Israel where he treated local dogs and cats as well as Bedouin sheep and camels as an associate at the Desert Research Institute of Ben Gurion University. He worked in Denver for 8 years in General Practice hospitals prior to opening his own practice in June 1995.
Dr. Fishman
DVM
Ever since the age of four, Dr. Rachel Fishman knew she wanted to work with animals. Always bringing a compassionate, empathetic, and educational focus to both her patients and clients, she prides herself on seeing anything that walks in the door. Before working at VetCare Animal Hospital, Dr. Fishman practiced for five years in the Denver area where she not only worked with dogs and cats but specialized in working with exotic animals as well. Dr. Fishman is a 3rd generation native Coloradan and moved back to Denver after finishing her Veterinary School degree at Mississippi State University. She also holds a master’s degree in Fine Arts in Medical Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and undergraduate degrees in both Animal Science and Art from the University of Maryland. She has 3 daughters (ages 7, 3, and 1), the best bichon-poodle mix named Wally, and a Russian Tortoise named Turdy. Outside of working with her furry friends, Rachel enjoys running, hiking, skiing, and hanging out with her family, including her doting husband, Daniel.
Veterinary Technician
Jo
Certified Vet Tech
Hi my name is Jo and I love what I do! Ever since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to work with animals. As many of you have heard me say, “I like my animals more than most people”. I graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture in 1977 with an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology and from there started my first job working with small animals and exotics. I have been working with Dr. Feldman at Vetcare for over 20 years; how time flies! I enjoy just about anything that is outdoors—walking, horseback riding, hiking, gardening, and especially camping with my husband Tom, my boys Peter and Philip, and my 7 grandchildren. I also love to sing and have participated in many worship teams at church, cantatas and have sung my fair share of solos. I am excited about what lies ahead at Vetcare and look forward to continuing to serve you and your pets!
Chris
Practice Manager/Certified Vet Tech
Hello, I’m Chris! Until recently, I called Chicago home. After graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in Finance, I worked for over a decade at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago as an auditor and then, director of IT planning & budgeting. I took a hiatus to raise my two amazing children, Tom and Kate, and then decided to pursue a lifelong dream of working with animals. In 2014 I graduated with my second degree and became certified as a veterinary technician. I am passionate about wildlife conservation and have worked in a variety of medical facilities as a CVT, including a zoo, a wildlife rehabilitation center, small animal clinics and a local community college as an adjunct instructor in veterinary nursing.
My current position as practice manager brought me and my wonderfully supportive husband, Jeff, to Colorado where we now live with our two dogs, Mac and Kane. While in Colorado, I hope to take my interest in photography to a new level. I also love reading, working all types of puzzles and traveling to new places with friends and family. I’m so excited to be a part of the VetCare Animal Hospital team where we promise to listen, educate and care for your pets in the most loving and attentive way possible.
Bill
Certified Vet Tech
My name is Bill. I have a degree in Biology and have been a certified veterinary technician, specializing in surgery, since 1989. I began my career with the Dumb Friends League performing high-volume surgeries. By the time I left Dumb Friends League, I had enough expertise to accept a position at Tender Care Vet Center in Greenwood, CO, running their ER. In 1997 I joined Dr. Feldman’s team at VetCare. Although I took a short break to serve as a surgery director in the human sector, I eventually returned to VetCare because I missed the animals.
While veterinary medicine is a very serious business, I believe humor is what makes VetCare a family. I have a little land shark named “Ricky Bobbi;” he loves falling asleep while I sing Baby Shark to him. My favorite movie is Sharknado, and I love listening to Primus while sipping on my favorite beverage and watching the Kansas City Chiefs WIN!
Tracy
Licensed Vet Tech
A rare born and raised Florida native, I found my calling in the veterinary field while living in NY in 2011. I became a licensed Veterinary Technician in 2014 and started working at VetCare Animal Hospital in 2018. Colorado is the best place I’ve lived and truly is an animal state. I love working with all animals and especially exotics; we get to see something different almost every day! I specialize in all things vet tech-related, but I really love assisting with surgeries on all our patients and I really enjoy building relationships and helping to educate owners.
Autumn
Licensed Vet Tech
Hi, I’m Autumn! I’m a Virginia native who just recently moved to Denver. I received my B.S. in Biology in 2019 and shortly after, received my license in veterinary technology in 2021. I am currently certified in Colorado as well as Virginia. I’ve worked in the veterinary/animal field since 2016. During that time, I found that I absolutely love working with exotics. I received most of my experience working with them at my last clinic in Virginia. In my free time, I love spending time with my dog, Jack, and going on adventures with him!
James
Vet Tech
Hi, my name is James. I’m a recent graduate from PIMA with a degree in veterinary technology and will soon sit for my licensing exam in the state of Colorado. I own many exotics ranging from a snake to Guinea pigs. While I love dogs and cats, I enjoy working with exotics the most. I hope to get even more experience caring for them while working at VetCare Animal Hospital.
Sandra
Vet Assistant
My name is Sandra. I was born and raised in Colorado. I recently graduated from PIMA Medical Institute as a Veterinary Assistant and will hopefully continue in my career to become a Veterinary Technician!
I have a huge passion for helping animals. My hobbies are reading, playing video games, and baking. I have an adorable Terrier mix named Coco who’s always finding a way to stir up trouble!
Customer Service Representative
Desi
Customer Service Representative
My name is Desi, I am a Colorado native. I’ve been in the veterinary field for two years and absolutely love it. Animals and medicine are my passion. In my free time, I like to paint and hike with my two dogs Ruby and Brutus.
Clinic Cat
Louie
Clinic Cat
Louie joined the team at VetCare in 2015 after being picked on by other cats in his household. Louie “works” Monday – Friday and spends the weekends with a good friend of Dr. Feldman’s. While at work Louie can be found lounging in his cat tower, greeting our clients at the front desk, saying hello to the canine friends, and being sassy to the feline friends visiting our hospital. Every morning he does his best to convince us he’s starving and needs treats for breakfast, copious amounts of treats.
